New Developments in IDH’s Product Range
Click here to download the Winter edition of the IDH newsletter. With our 75th Anniversary celebrations over, IDH is once again looking forward to a challenging year with an emphasis towards product development product diversification. IDH has a range of exciting new developments for 2010.

IDH commission new Silicone line
In recognition of a growing demand for silicone cables, IDH have invested in another new silicone extrusion line. This new line will improve lead times and allow the continued development of a whole new range of silicone rubber cables.
Silicone cables have exceptional environmental resistance and can be used across a wide temperature range. Typically, this ranges from -60°C to 180°C. Flash ignition temperatures and self ignition temperatures for silicone rubbers are superior to almost all other insulation and sheathing materials. This investment in
a new silicone line represents IDH’s commitment to product development and customer service.
SOLAR CABLES
With legislation focusing on renewable energy, the solar market is moving quickly. In recognition of this requirement as well as the growing awareness of the need to move towards more sustainable energy generation, IDH is developing cables for use in photovoltaic systems.
These applications require cables which have a superior temperature range and excellent resistance to UV whilst being tough and durable against abrasive conditions. As a market leader, IDH’s Solar Cables are being developed to meet all of these requirements and more. We will keep you updated in future newsletters.
HIGH TEMPERATURE LOW SMOKE ZERO HALOGEN CABLES
Typically, thermoset low smoke zero halogen cables to BS7211 are rated up to 90°C. However, there has been interest in LSZH cables capable of being used in higher temperature applications, up to and including 125°C. IDH are pleased to announce that they now have a cable designed for these higher temperature applications.
FUMEGUARD™ ARCTIC CABLES
As discussed in our summer newsletter, IDH now have a Low Smoke Zero Halogen cable for use as an arctic flexible cable. These cables operate within a temperature range from -40°C up to 70°C. These cables have found their way on to sites as temporary lighting and extension leads where Low Smoke Zero Halogen cables must be used to ensure the safety of occupants in the event of fire.
FUMEGUARD™ FR
Fumeguard FR combines the Low Smoke Zero Halogen technology of our Fumeguard cables with the fire resistant performance of our Kilflam 1000 conduit cable. This multi core cable is flexible and easy to use, suitable, when used in a metal conduit, for applications where fire resistance is essential.
Our Strip-Easy twin and earth cables are now widely being used in both Low Smoke Zero Halogen and PVC versions. Electricians claim the cable makes installation much quicker and easier. These new cables are now also available in red and have full BASEC approval.
LOW SMOKE ZERO HALOGEN CLIPS AND SADDLES
Low Smoke Zero Halogen Clips and Saddles may also be sourced from IDH. The fixings are copper clips dipped in Low Smoke Zero Halogen coating to give a smooth soft finish, and are available in white, back, red and orange.
